Happy Valentine's Day! I finally wrapped up a number of different projects and feel like I can take a breather and reassess my schedule. I'll share a few of those projects today. The shop is still going strong. I changed my business model as far as censers go. I'm still evaluating whether this will work … Continue reading February updates

Cookbook Cleanout
I had the sudden and energetic urge to redo the entire house this morning after my second cup of coffee. After about ten minutes I regained my sanity and settled my sights on something slightly more achievable. I moved everything off the front porch/entryway, swept, and rearranged it (mostly the plants). I put a bunch … Continue reading Cookbook Cleanout
Antique Mall
Friday I took Flopsy and Duchess to a nearby antique mall for Flopsy’s birthday present. I hadn’t been there before and it’s larger than the one I’ve been to several other times. She picked out an end table with magazine rack underneath to hold her record player and (some of) her records. She also found … Continue reading Antique Mall
Vintage clothing shopping
The girls love me to take them to Camille's nearby in Old Town Spring. She has lots of antique china, jewelry, and clothing, as well as painted shabby chic furniture, picture frames, etc. it's hard to put a finger on, but it's a lovely place to wander. Camille herself loves it when we come in … Continue reading Vintage clothing shopping
Recent projects
Duchess finished her apron yesterday! I finished a bonnet and pair of booties for my friend's grandbaby. I went with pink because I wound up not having enough cream.
Flopsy’s Vintage Sewing

It looked like the pattern designers expected you to be a pretty decent seamstress. With the help of some of her couture/tailoring books we figured them out. While I was available … Continue reading Flopsy’s Vintage Sewing
Vintage Vogue V9000: take 1.2
This is the dress I made (at first) a size 18, adjusting it down to a 16 before the previous photos were taken. After making Dress take 2, I went back and deconstructed the majority of this dress (I kept the facings and buttons/buttonholes), cutting it down to a size 10 (the wrong size according … Continue reading Vintage Vogue V9000: take 1.2
Vintage Vogue V9000
Joann's is having a 50% off sale on a lot of their cotton and it was the perfect time to get dress fabrics. I'm making three dresses using the pattern above. I'll make a cross between A and B, doing the sleeves without the notched "wings" on the cuffs. I even have all the notions … Continue reading Vintage Vogue V9000
A Vintage Birthday
Floppy herself is not vintage, of course, being only newly sixteen! However, since she loves all things vintage we went antiquing for her birthday and kept to the theme for her party. Many years!
Antiquing
Flopsy wanted to go antiquing for her 16th birthday, so that's what we did. First we hit up a nearby antique mall... Then we went to a vintage store specializing in painted furniture and vintage clothes (and various and sundry other things)... And here are some of the finds:
