Pascha
The Pascha breakfast of champions
Note: No, no one actually had this for breakfast, although I was obliged to hand a Hershey kiss apiece to the little girls when they saw what I was doing. We had so much candy it seemed best to store it in a cereal container.
Bright Monday: Friends and Feasting
The children decorated for me on Holy Friday while I was dyeing eggs. I didn't have a chance to examine things properly and take pictures until this morning. This coincided with a visit from friends who were traveling home from visiting family over Pascha. We fixed a brunch for them but the only thing we … Continue reading Bright Monday: Friends and Feasting
Agape Vespers
Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen! We had eighty-eight people at Agape Vespers! I'm staggered! Afterward the family received by chrismation yesterday communed for the first time. Christ is Risen!

Do not lament Me, O Mother, seeing Me in the tomb, the Son conceived in the womb without seed; for I shall arise, and be glorified; and, as God, I shall unceasingly exalt all who extol Thee in faith and in love. -Canon of Holy Saturday, Ode 9 Come receive ye … Continue reading Christ is Risen!
Red eggs

I also started hemming Duchess's skirt (it's a beautiful cream wool gabardine in a 1930's pattern that she found at an … Continue reading Holy Tuesday
Red Eggs
These crocheted versions are available at Cozy House Curios. Interestingly, I am also in charge of dying the real red eggs for our parish at Pascha. I'm glad I don't have to crochet that many!
Egg Hunt
We're a bit delayed because of the past two weeks of colds/flu, but Pascha lasts 40 days! This morning we did a couple rounds of egg-hunting for Moppet and Mittens. Mittens took it very seriously.
Bright Monday
Christ is risen! I started the process of restoring order to the house yesterday. Every year I run a pretty tight ship up until Holy Friday and then things start to accumulate. By Pascha afternoon it looks like the kids version of a frat house. I simply can't function in such an environment. So exhausted … Continue reading Bright Monday
