Eleanor and A.J. were married May 16th. The weather was rainy and fairly miserable but it did stop raining that evening in time for them to leave for their honeymoon, not under an umbrella. The weather for the next several days was simply dreadful so we wound up being grateful for the weather we had! … Continue reading Eleanor’s wedding

Growing things I’ve never had a rose bush before. I discovered that there was a small, barely alive one mostly hidden by the front shrubs and I decided to see if it could be coaxed back to health. I aerated the soil and added some rose fertilizer but as the weeks went by nothing really … Continue reading Wednesday Collage
Sunday of Orthodoxy: a retrospective
Sunday of Orthodoxy Pan-Orthodox Vespers at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Houston Ok, I admit it feels rather silly to be posting photos of the Sunday of Orthodoxy, the first Sunday of Great Lent, during Bright Week. Bear with me. Although we didn’t know it we had just one more weekend in church before the … Continue reading Sunday of Orthodoxy: a retrospective
The past week
My heart is heavy and I couldn’t get past it to write any blog posts. Just now I decided to face up to it and just post and get it over with. Friday we lost Smokey. He was hit by a car. I found out through a neighborhood post about a grey and white cat … Continue reading The past week
Big Day

And the Spirit, in the form of a dove, confirmed the truthfulness of his Word. O Christ our God, who hast revealed … Continue reading Theophany
Junior Conductor
Flopsy did very well in the choral conducting class offered this past fall by the OCA's Department of Liturgical Music. She conducted about half of Liturgy today. Oh, and this baby cardigan is nearly done (needs ends woven in, blocking, and buttons). I'm starting s matching hat and will probably make little socks too.

Church Transformation
This past weekend we had the first services in our new church. We blessed the church and hall as well. Many people worked for months, weeks, days, and hours to clear property, prepare foundation, move buildings, construct decking and stairs, clean, paint, connect plumbing and electricity, and move in. I can't begin to enumerate all … Continue reading Church Transformation
