Yesterday we drove over to Holy Archangels Monastery near Kendalia, TX. It was an absolutely lovely day! The only thing to mar it was Mittens running into a cactus with her foot. One of the spines went through her shoe into the instep. It was obviously very painful but by this morning we were afraid … Continue reading Trip to Holy Archangels

Visit to St. Paraskevi Monastery
The photos speak for themselves. (As usual, I did not take photos during Vespers or Small Compline.) You can find St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Monastery here.
Patronal Feast and Visit from Mother Gabriella
We began Saturday morning with an akathist. Afterward Mother Gabriella of Holy Dormition Monastery in Michigan gave talks in the morning and afternoon on prayer and Christian virtue. Liturgy the next morning for St. Cyril of Jerusalem, our parish saint. Coffee hour afterward on the pavilion. Aren't the next few sweet photos? (That's another small … Continue reading Patronal Feast and Visit from Mother Gabriella

Monastery Visit
As I mentioned in my last post we spent yesterday in the vicinity of Washington, TX. The morning we spent at St. Paraskevi Orthodox Monastery, picking up candles for our parish, talking to Gerontissa, and of course, playing with the resident dogs. This is Kali: While we were there a family came requesting their oldest … Continue reading Monastery Visit
New Iconography inside Holy Apostles Chapel at Holy Protection Monastery
The church pictured below is Holy Apostles (Sts. Peter and Paul) chapel. This is just their temporary chapel until the large church can be built. Yes, keep that in mind as you view the photos below. The view from the entry between the narthex and the nave. The ceiling is low because there is the … Continue reading New Iconography inside Holy Apostles Chapel at Holy Protection Monastery
Holy Protection Orthodox Monastery in the Snow
I've shared photographs of Agia Skepi's exterior before, but we haven't been there in the winter when it had snowed! In a way it's a shame because you can't see all of their gorgeous landscaping, but on the other hand, the snow is beautiful. Here is their tiniest chapel to St. Oraiozili. And the chapel … Continue reading Holy Protection Orthodox Monastery in the Snow
