Duchess and I took the little girls to a local park to stretch our legs and look at something beautiful for a change. The egret at the pond was very unafraid of people and let us get quite close.
Sunday of Orthodoxy Pan-Orthodox Vespers at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Houston Ok, I admit it feels rather silly to be posting photos of the Sunday of Orthodoxy, the first Sunday of Great Lent, during Bright Week. Bear with me. Although we didn’t know it we had just one more weekend in church before the … Continue reading Sunday of Orthodoxy: a retrospective
Well, I’ve wanted to try this for a while so I got some parachute cord, sat down with a YouTube instruction video, and started alternately pressing play, pause, and rewind. This was not very successful. I will give myself a little grace and add that I also had a preschooler sticking her head over my … Continue reading Tying a prayer rope 1
What a beautiful day! The sunrise this morning was gorgeous and I decided to glory in what I *could* see instead of bemoaning the fact that I couldn’t leave the house to head to my better view. The humidity is only 35% and I have the windows open. Most of the morning work is done … Continue reading Glorious Day
(Patient in the ambulance) I’m exhausted, but there’s not really any good reason for it. Father took Duchess up to Dallas so she could surprise her boyfriend for his birthday. Nothing much; just how the house looked the other afternoon. It’s feeling quite comfortable. There are still some things to be done, to be sure, but we’re mostly there.
Friday I took Flopsy and Duchess to a nearby antique mall for Flopsy’s birthday present. I hadn’t been there before and it’s larger than the one I’ve been to several other times. She picked out an end table with magazine rack underneath to hold her record player and (some of) her records. She also found … Continue reading Antique Mall
We simply must get this dollhouse stripped so we can begin painting, etc. The girls have waited a long time. This morning I stripped off by hand all of the electrical tape and most of the wallpaper (which is unfortunately rather hoard-like, and glued too well). I brought out a spackling chisel and some sandpaper, … Continue reading Renovations
