The girls love me to take them to Camille's nearby in Old Town Spring. She has lots of antique china, jewelry, and clothing, as well as painted shabby chic furniture, picture frames, etc. it's hard to put a finger on, but it's a lovely place to wander. Camille herself loves it when we come in … Continue reading Vintage clothing shopping

One foot in front of another
I'm tired. It's been a struggle to accomplish anything lately. Sometimes life really feels like a hamster wheel. All I can do it try to put one foot in front of another. Keep praying. Distance myself from the news because it only drags me down. God knows my struggles. There's sunshine somewhere.
Cookies and Cream Cake
Wednesday was Pickles's and Father's birthday. We celebrated Thursday night because Wednesday we had Vespers. I made a slightly different cake this time. I used the Better Homes and Gardens yellow cake recipe (old standby) and sprinkled chocolate chips in each of the three pans before baking. The frosting was just a regular buttercream frosting … Continue reading Cookies and Cream Cake

Bits and pieces
Father has wanted a fish tank forever. He decided to get one for his birthday, and Wednesday (his actual birthday) he got the first eight fish. Everyone has loved looking at them. We've been treated to some lovely sunsets lately. Here you can see the crescent moon too: Moppet has been longing for a BIG … Continue reading Bits and pieces
Tuesday outing

We sat outside, the weather being quite unseasonal (even for Houston) and the little girls were entertained by watching the trolly make regular … Continue reading Tuesday outing
Theophany
When Thou, O Lord, wast baptized in the Jordan the worship of the Trinity was made manifest! For the voice of the Father bare witness to Thee, and called Thee his Beloved Son. And the Spirit, in the form of a dove, confirmed the truthfulness of his Word. O Christ our God, who hast revealed … Continue reading Theophany
Trip to Holy Archangels
Yesterday we drove over to Holy Archangels Monastery near Kendalia, TX. It was an absolutely lovely day! The only thing to mar it was Mittens running into a cactus with her foot. One of the spines went through her shoe into the instep. It was obviously very painful but by this morning we were afraid … Continue reading Trip to Holy Archangels
Collecting Thoughts
I have no shiny resolutions for 2019. I don't think it's that I'm jaded; I think I'm just in a day-to-day survival mode. After 10 or so days with not more than 2 consecutive hours of sleep, it happens. When small children are sick it consumes your life. I'm not so much pessimistic as I … Continue reading Collecting Thoughts
