What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. [Psalm 8:4-5]
I was watching the youngest two roll around on the floor this evening after pajamas and before the advent routine. It struck me how amazing it is that they are here. Four of their closest siblings in age did not survive to birth, and it was touch and go with both of the girls. As they giggled and played I saw the thousands upon thousands of prayers sent up by us, our family, friends, monastics, people in parishes I didn’t even know… I see myself, (certainly not very clearly, but still) and I see how sinful I am and unworthy. Who am I that God would care about me and my children? Yet He does, and this mystery is beyond comprehension.
“Who am I that God would care about me […]? Yet He does, and this mystery is beyond comprehension.” Seeing this has helped me tonight. Thank you for sharing. Have a happy Christmas!
