Making a 16 Patch Star

I’ve made 27 blocks now! I hope in another day or two I’ll have 32 and can start putting together two crib quilt tops (16 blocks each plus sashing). Since I’m putting everything together from individual squares it’s taking longer. The only shortcuts I’m using are to simultaneously make two half-square triangle squares (see photos at top) and chaining some steps (sewing short seams one right after the other without breaking the thread). It was only a day or so ago that I realized just how many squares I had cut and began thinking about making enough blocks for two quilts. Last evening I had to drag out some more small cuts of fabric to cut a few more squares.
