A Vintage Birthday

Floppy herself is not vintage, of course, being only newly sixteen! However, since she loves all things vintage we went antiquing for her birthday and kept to the theme for her party.

White hydrangeas in pitcher (wedding present), cake stand from Hobby Lobby, antique lace tablecloth

Cake: Chocolate Gateau made by Duchess, antique glass candy dish, glass candlesticks (wedding present)

White china luncheon plates owned by my grandmother.

Mixed vintage napkins (family things), cake server (wedding present). Duchess insisted on the bow.

frame in bottom right corner from Hobby Lobby, vintage photo from antiquing outing

Banner made by me (simple white felt triangles sewn to green ribbon)

Smaller banner made similarly

“Brown paper packages tied up with string”

Flopsy wearing a skirt she made herself from a 1940’s pattern

gift from boys from Hobby Lobby

Hand-knit mittens from Ribby

1940’s WAVES coat from Wearing History

Perfume bottle from Duchess (Hobby Lobby – I swear this blog post isn’t an ad for H.L.)

Facetiming with grandparents to open their gift.

The moment she sees it.

1953 Singer sewing machine, owned by her great-great-grandmother and great-grandmother (whom she’s named for)

My parents had it completely restored to full working order (and a new case).

Many years!
