I cast on for the Martinmas sweater while waiting to board in Houston last week. I finished it yesterday and it’s blocking. All it lacks now are buttons. I put together an unorthodox combination of factors (sport weight yarn, size 3 needles, pattern size 6-8) in the hopes that the end result would fit Mittens. I think it will, but she’s been miserably sick and unwilling to try it on.
It’s made with Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in sport weight, colorway Aurora Heather (25299).
I took a book to SC to read but didn’t get much done. My mind was too distracted to read and it was more helpful to knit. Consequently the book moved to my nightstand and I’m working my way through it at bedtime. I’ve read it before: Island on Fire, the story of the 1783 eruption of Laki in Iceland. No one knows about it which is surprising given what far-reaching consequences it had.
I am happy that Ginny’s Yarn Along link-up is back up and running! Follow the link to see what everyone else is making and reading.
Ohhhh I love the color of that sweater!!! It’s absolutely beautiful! And your book sounds fascinating. I will have to look that up.

Thank you! I love that color too. And the heather keeps it from being a “flat” green. Thanks for coming by!

That is a lovely green! I hope one day I can crochet as fast as you knit! Perhaps if I can get my C5-C7 surgically repaired I can. 🙂

Remember I had hours and hours of time last week to work on this. In fact, I can’t remember ever before having that much time to work.

I haven’t. I need to get in there with labels and figure out where everything is! Once I do that I’ll put up a post.

I really like your sweater. The color and leaf lace pattern are lovely. That book must be interesting. I have never even heard of that volcano.

I hadn’t heard of it either! And this is the third sweater I’ve made from this pattern. I’ve learned a lot since the first one.
