O Gladsome Light

You wouldn’t believe how many pictures I took of the sunset last night. I had the opportunity for a solitary walk on the beach and took photos to my heart’s content. A trio of small planes flew off into the sunset and then back again (I shared those photos last night). A thunderstorm had drifted SW over Mobile Bay to Pascagoula and I knew it would make for some spectacular shots. While I was engaged in shooting the planes I noticed that there were mammatus clouds under the anvil. The sun backlit them so you could see just how insubstantial they really are.

Those beams of light are called “crepuscular rays”.
