The IOCC and the 18th AAC

July 24, 2015October 12, 2016 / matushkaanna / 3 Comments

This is a story from the OCA's All American Council I haven't seen reported yet. On Thursday there was a presentation from a representative of the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). She showed this video and went on to discuss the work of the IOCC with the Syrian refugees. One fact she mentioned which was … Continue reading The IOCC and the 18th AAC

Elephant Crib Quilt and Stuffed Elephant

July 23, 2015October 12, 2016 / matushkaanna / 7 Comments

I just finished the quilt yesterday and the elephant today. Both available in the shop! The quilt is 100% cotton flannel with cotton batting inside. It's hand-quilted and bound.    This little elephant is from my own pattern.

Update: (From Rod Dreher) I’m thrilled and relieved to be able to pass on to you all that both Anna Harrington and her baby Irene are alive. They are in intensive care, but they’re going to make it. Baby Irene was born with some serious birth defects, but she’s here, and she’s going to live; … Continue reading Please Support! [updated]

Cotton Flannel Quilt in Progress

July 16, 2015October 12, 2016 / matushkaanna / 6 Comments

I finished piecing this quilt top today and got it sandwiched and pinned. I'm ready to start the hand-quilting. The batting is 100% cotton too, so this will be one soft, soft quilt. I think I'll make a stuffed elephant out of some of the leftover fabric to go with it... It will be in … Continue reading Cotton Flannel Quilt in Progress

Sometimes you have to take time to reshelve…

July 14, 2015October 12, 2016 / matushkaanna / 4 Comments

I got tired of stacks of books falling over next to my bed and on my dresser. Of course, there's still a stack there...

Yarn Along: Hitchhiker’s Guide and Tiny Layette

July 8, 2015October 12, 2016 / matushkaanna / 4 Comments

I started on this tiny layette yesterday and was able to finish the bonnet and dress before bed. I'm working on the seed stitch blanket and wondering why I chose seed stitch. My hands are killing me! The needles are size 000 (1.5mm diameter), the smallest I have, and I'm wishing I had smaller ones. … Continue reading Yarn Along: Hitchhiker’s Guide and Tiny Layette
