At the bottom of my grandmother’s truck my Father unearthed a box:
It is beautifully illustrated and in very good condition, considering the age. While there is no date whatsoever on the box, an online museum dates this game to 1890, making it about 123 years old. Anagrams is the forerunner of Scrabble, which Alfred Butts developed about 1930. There is a little more information about it here.
Shockingly, it appears to have most (if not all) of the wooden pieces inside.
Merry Christmas to me!! 🙂
Oh, wow! What an amazing and absolutely gorgeous find! I love antiques and I especially love things that belong to family members.
