Knitting progress

The girls learned how to make a slip knot, cast on, and knit. We’ll leave purl off for a while until knitting is down firmly. For demonstration purposes I used chunky wool on large needles to make it easier for them to see what I was doing. Duchess has done one row and Ribby kept going. At last look she had done four rows. We’ll do a little bit a day.

I, on the other hand, decided it was time to learn, once and for all, how to knit. I’m tired of not being able to do it. I cast on about a million stitches (give or take) on size 7 needles and jumped in. I’m doing stockinette so that I can be smooth in my motions doing a row of knit and a row of purl. It took a surprisingly short time before I got up some speed. I haven’t gotten very far visually, but I’ve come a long way technically.

I’m looking forward to trying some cotton dishcloths like Mat. Emily. (:
