Oh dear. Necessity is the mother of invention indeed. I told the kids they could make s’mores for dessert tonight but they couldn’t find the graham crackers. I guess I only dreamed I bought them. Uh oh. I looked through the pantry, hoping against hope that a box of graham crackers would jump out from behind the flour and say “Boo!”
Right before I gave up I found some ice cream cones. Hmmm…
Graham Cracker-less S’mores
You need:
- ice cream cones (the flat ones work the best but the others could be put in a tall glass)
- chocolate bars
- marshmallows (either mini or large)
Place three segments of chocolate bar in the cone.
Stuff one large or several small marshmallows on top.
Microwave for 10 seconds. (Let the kids watch it mushroom out like a real ice cream cone.)
Enjoy!
It was a big hit with the kids. I started making two at a time. (Microwave for 13 seconds.)
[Addendum: It occurred to me this morning that one could add a mix of chocolate chips, raisins, nuts (or whatever) and mini marshmallows in the cone and microwave it for the same length of time. Hm. Anyone want to try it and let us know how it works? I’m running out of cones…]
how fun! oh, I am hungry now 🙂
