The Presence of God during Divine Liturgy

From an email from Fr. Alexander (sent to him by Fr. Seraphim of St. Anthony’s Monastery)

Ο ΚΥΡΙΟΣ ΕΓΓΥΣ. . . The Lord is near. . .
His presence at the Divine Liturgy is real, but hidden.
Here it appeared – after the film was processed.
At the time it was unknown and unseen to the clergy and the photographer.

  1. A boy at our church was surprised when he found out that no one else saw the altar filled with light when the priest prayed for the Holy Spirit. He had always seen it every Sunday.

  2. This is stunning. I have believed in the Real Presence simply by faith, but to “see” it is almost overwhelming.

The idea of being face-to-face with God after death…beautiful, but terrifying, too.
