Be grateful I’m not presenting this picture at its original size.
This is a Japanese spider crab. Per Wikipedia “It has the largest leg span of any arthropod,
reaching up to 3.8 metres (12 ft 6 in) and weighing up to 41 pounds (19 kg).”
How on earth did I come to be looking at this monstrosity?
Father: “Go to Wikipedia and look up giant spider crab.”
Me: “Why, do we have an infestation?”
Father: “Ha, ha.”
(click, click, click…pause)
Me: “AAAAUUUGGGHHHH!!!!!!!”
Father: “There’s some good eatin’ on those legs!”
It turns out this…thingy…was featured in Ribby’s science book this morning. She asked if it were endangered. I said that no one could possibly get close enough to endanger it.
I think I’ll stick to PBJ for lunch today.
yeah….ew! my hubby loves freakishly scary looking marine animals too, lol. One day he showed me a baby pig that had been crossed with a jellyfish and glowed in the dark. For some reason he thought I would find that cool! ha ha.
